bacon on a string...pull'm n real slow...been a longggggggggggggg time since i've dun that We used to put a piece of bacon in between our fingers, lay on our stomachs, put our hands in the water on the bottom, and let the crawdads crawl into our hands. It actually tickled! I wouldn't do that for the world today.

I made a drag one time from an old rake and some 1/4" mesh hardware cloth. It was about 4ft wide and worked pretty good.
From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."
Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

Old screen door or window tie bacon to center. Rocks on each corner & sink. Come back in 1 hour.

When I lived in Louisiana we bought crawfish nets. They were netting about 2 feet square with wire attached to each corner. The wire came up to a point about 2 ft. above the net. You sit them in the ditch baited with bacon tied in the middle of the netting. Come back in about 30 minutes with a 6-8 ft. 2x2 with a nail sticking out of it, put it under the wire and quickly lift the nets out of the water. Caught a ton of the like this.

Used to seine them with old window screen. The metal ones you can bend in an arc. Of course if you have the time, the old bacon on a string was lots of fun.

You can seine by yourself. Stick one pole in the ground like a stake right next to bank, then grab the other pole and work the water.

way we used to do it is, fill borrow with water, work hand in the hole till you can make a fist in it, start pumping, open hand they try to walk out i guess the pressure, and they walk into you hand cant pinch in the hole pull them out, takes 2-3 min a hole. we would get them bank fishing as kids.

Bacon and string. Had a blast. Also when water was clear we would walk the creeks and slowly pick up rocks and they would be laying under them. Don't disturb water to get muddy then put a cup behind them and put hand in front and they would scoot straight back into cup.
