Going on a 4 wheeling trip this summer to West Virginia to ride the Hatfield McCoy trails. I have a can am maverick and was thinking of buying a handheld GPS to make sure I don't get lost on the trails. I was researching what kind to buy when the light bulb went off. my new Helix 10 has the internal GPS. so is there 1) any ways to use it on my trip? I have a way to mount it. 2)would there be any ways to upload the trails of that area. I know if I have a Garmin there are ways to buy the trails for like 30$. Any help is appreciated because I waited on hold for over 30 mins yesterday with the hummingbird people and never did get to talk to a human.
Thanks in advance and cant wait to hear from some of you GURUS on the bird.

Not sure about the trails but you can easily use the sonar for gps mapping and create your own trail. Wire up the graph to 12 volts. Once you power the unit on, press the power key once and turn the sonar functionailty off. This will give you gps and no sonar.

There are no terrestrial maps for a Humminbird.
You can install the free app on your smartphone called RiderX and it will record your tracks also. That software has some recorded tracks already that some have added, including mine.
I do the Hatfield and McCoy trails a few times a year and have used the RiderX app.
Go online and print the Hatfield and McCoy trail maps that you will be riding. Have them laminated so they are protected from rain/mudholes/creeks.
I typically stay at the Ashland Resort.

you can also use the Navionics app, the boating or the hike and bike app. Turn the satelite background on, so that is looks like google earth, hit start route and it will lay a track everywhere you ride. I have used it numerous times on ATV parks here in Texas, works great, will even save the track to be played back later or on another ride.
