One shape is an oval and the other is more of a crescent-half moon shape with a flat bottom.

Wondering what the difference is. Does one track thru the water better? Seems like the crescent
shape is offered in heavier weights than the oval.

Ovals are typically 1/2 oz. Maybe 3/4 oz. The crescent shape is a 1 oz. at least that's how I remember them. Well, I'm worng. The crescent shape comes in 1/4 through 1 oz. The ovals are 1/4 and 1/2 oz. Mann's says the crescent came about to give the fish a different look.

Called Manns and talked to a guy named Mike. He said back in 1961-62 when Tom came out with the little george (named after George Wallace) he went with an oval shape on the lighter weights and more of a shad shape on the heavier ones.

Fouzman-You have it right-Tom just wanted a different look to the heavier ones.

Interesting.

I've been using them for many years. But it seems the last few I've bought are hit and miss if they track and spin properly. Maybe 50% actually work. Frustrating to say the least.

Catching white bass on the ovals on Lake Fork. Blue and silver in Matt finish or shiny. Whatch for the birds and go get them out of the lake. They are getting big and are fun to catch. Release to the frying pan.
