Not to hijack this thread...

but Dennis, can't send you a PM.
I'm wondering what Mepps you would suggest for someone wanting to learn the technique for sandies and hybrids.

Thanks for always being helpful to others.

I'll put it on a ruler for the unbelievers next time Todd. Heck I'll even go through my archives and show a few more cedar creek 28" hybrids when I go back to my computer at work on Tuesday lol

I'm 6'3 215 and my brother is 5'11 260... Legnth isn't always an accurate indication of weight.

Chris, I meant to say you did good capturing the moment/memory while the Mrs reeling the DD in. Her personal best? There are many good old timer anglers out there who still haven't caught a DD hibbie. So it's pretty special smile

I knew what you meant Todd and thank you. It was her PB and the second largest to ever come from my boat on cedar creek. A double d hybrid is a special fish in Texas.

Basic Aglia in size 3 and 4 is all you need, no buck tails plain hooks and some clamp on lead weights =1/16-1/8oz

Sorry about the PM limit. I wish the forum alerted me of it. It's fixed now. Right now and thus far this year I am using a #4 silver plain Aglia. With the 10 to 12 lb fluorocarbon line I use I don't need a weight with a #4.

Congrats to your wife. A DD Hybrid on artificial baits is a great acomphlisment. You mentioned your larger fish came on a crankbait. Are u using XD 10's or DD 22's to get the bait down to over 20 ft or are u targeting fish higher in the water colum. Any help would be appreciated.

My kid caught a junior angler record on cedar creek when he was 5. Dad never turned in the paper work even though the fish was certified. It was 27.5 and 9 and 3/8 pounds. A monster for a five year old. I think that the length to weight is highest during the winter time. I have caught some fish that pushed 10 lbs and we're only 26" in the winter time. Big guts full of eggs.

Golfer,
I thing chris will chime in but usually you are running a bait thar will get down deep and fishing it on a 15-17 ft hump. If you can make that bait get to the bottom with a long cast and a fast reel . Then it can be deadly. Especially when it is bumping bottom. Xd's and dd 22 will both do the trick if fished right.
