Was looking for what you guys use for drop shot rods. I am wanting to invest in one but not wanting to spend a arm and leg.

+1

I had Ron build me a baitcast model one with Carbon Fiber handles and the high end guides.
I put a Lew's Pro Magnesium and spooled up with 10# Invizx, talk about a light and sensitive setup.
I don't know what an arm and a leg to you is but the rods are around $200 and well worth it.

I use a custom rod built by someone who works at reel time. If I didn't have it I would get a g loomis Dsr822s

iRod Genesis II

One of the most underrated rods on the market right here. I don't know why iRod doesn't get a lot of press, because they build a stellar rod! I recommend you try the Genesis II IRG712S. This rod is a superb drop shot rod and it'll get the job done easily. It has plenty of backbone to drive the hook home but enough tip to allow you to work the bait correctly; it's the perfect mix. This rod is also super light and very sensitive. For less than $150, you can't go wrong with this rod.

Go see Ron @ Reel Time Rods in Popes Landing at lake Fork. He makes both spinning and a baitcaster that are awesome drop shot rods. I prefer the baitcaster. I have tried several other rods for drop shotting including the Dobyns 702 and the tip action on the Reel Time Rod is better. It moves with the slightest nibble and the rod has plenty backbone.

I may get laughed out of here, but hands down the best rod I have ever used for drop shot.

Most people poopoo them but I have been using one of Skeet Reese's drop shot rods for 10 years now and I've caught a lot fish up to 6.5lbs using it. Plenty of backbone, plenty of tip.. $90 I think. It is a spinning rod.
