Hey guys, gunna make an evening trip to Hubbard tomorrow to try for some channels in the evening and flatties/blues at night. I have my blue/yellow cat spot but I'm wondering how you guys fish the rocks? I know a float with some punch bait but how do you access the rocks? I've heard the 30 bridge is productive but do you park way away like at the marina and walk all the way there or what? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

enter this into google maps. Its a frontage road along interstate 30, you will prob already see a car or two there and you can fish all along the rocks there. Let me know if this does not help.

Is it better to fish the north side from that lot or have to cross the interstate?

All this rain has kept the water temps cooled off, everything is way behind, it's still very early in the spawn.

Speaking of spawning catfish, how is the flathead spawn looking? I know it's supposed to basically be on by this time of year. In my home lake they're in their holes but some guys noodling out there said that's the only lake they've found them in the holes so far

In my home lake they're in their holes but some guys noodling out there said that's the only lake they've found them in the holes so far all I can say is that by this time the bite has usually slowed down because the flatheads are spawning and I've been trying since April to catch one on hook and line in my normal areas and we've just now started to actually see some consistent action fishing for them. Like I said in my post before I think everything is about 2 months behind this year because of the rain keeping the lakes cooled down. I've even caught crappie shallow on the last few trips out.

Well I'm hoping I haven't missed the spawn completely lol last time I hit the pre spawn hard we did good at Ray Hubbard but that was back when the water level was "normal" not rising and dropping 2ft every day.

When on a rock wall/dam does it matter much how far down it you are? How do you pick what area of a rip rap strip to fish for spawners?

15-20 minutes, if no bite move on. As to where to go,Ive been fishing where it's clear of brush, mostly poison ivy, thankfully I'm not allergic.
