I caught this 10 lb 2 oz catfish out of a tiny round pond that was only about 150 feet across or less. I saw this catfish while bass fishing a few days ago. I got excited and wanted to catch it and release it. But I had no bait or proper tackle with me and he was not interested in my roadrunner. I came back the next few days but it kept raining and making this normally clear pon all muddy. I did not want to fish for the catfish until I could see it again for 2 reasons. #1 There are so many turtle in there, if the bait was not presented directly to the catfish the turtle would take it in seconds! Finally today the water started to clear up slightly but catfish was no where to be seen. So I tossed in a small hand full of catfood to watch the bluegills gor crazy like piranhas! Within seconds of tossing in the catfood the catfish showed up and ate it all! I litterally ran back to my car and grabbed my big catfish pole and a chunk of hot dog. With 40lb braid and a strong circle hook I knew this would be no problem. The fish was still near the bank when I returned with my heart racing. I very slowy lowered the bait right in front of the fish maybe 6 inches away. Fish instantly sucked it up seting the hook in the process. Then that cat went wild and zipped all over that tiny pond through all the weeds and pond slime algae! By the time I got it back to the bank it had a pound or 2 of weeds wrapped up in the line. I forgot the net so I grabbed it my the lip and let it bite the [censored] out me while I pulled it on shore. I think this fish is just very dark and small fins do to its enviroment. I have caught plenty of catfish much bigger than this one but the novelty of site fishing it out of a mini pond was a blast! Fish was let go after a quick photo session and weigh in. My question is this a blue cat?

Big ol male channel cat. Male morph during spawn and get those big thick muscles or pones on their heads and are usually dark colored. You can also tell by the rounded anal fin. Blues have a longer straight anal fin.

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

MERCY - not receiving what you deserve
GRACE - receiving what you don't deserve
America's MESS = God's miracle fixes
I'd rather walk with God with no questions answered than to walk thru life without Him and know the answers
