Trying to replace carrier seals dam thing won't come out. I have already broken one chain so I got a bigger one still won't budge.

Before ya ask yes the lock ring is out. No way to get the key out without taking grinder and splitting the case.

I have never had so much trouble with one.


Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get this thing out. I can cut it out if necessary just do not want to.

Before any smart azz remarks I know where to buy a new torque master I just don't want to spend the money right now.

It's a 1997 Merc XR6 150 should have put that in first post I'm just mad.

Thanks Gary ordered it. This thing is so corroded that I had to cut out the retaining ring. I made a tool out of schedule 40 steel pipe that grabs the 4 supports put an 18 inch ridged pipe wrench with cheater would not budge Key is out. Took 3 days soaking to get it out. This lower was run in salt and it is not a salty (red cowl not blue). Is there anything that will losten up this carrier as it seems to be welded to the housing.

Had spare retaining ring cleaned everything up never seeze the ring now it screws on by hand. I only use ring tool for final tightening.

I want to appoligize to everyone for my rant I was foaming at the mouth mad last night. 4 days of frustration I finally blew a head gasket not good I'm better than that.
