Took my wife out once and she was adamant that she wanted to drive the boat while I parked the trailer. She argued that she has grew up driving boats and knew what she was doing. I advised against it then tried to explain things but got the "I know what I am doing" response. I had a feeling that it was a bad idea but finally gave in. After parking, I walked the dock and here she comes. She started picking up speed...I yell for her to slow down and she says she doesn't know how. I told her to pull back on the throttle, speed still building...I yell to turn off the key...a little faster now...shift into reverse...impact was inevitable now. Finally as a last resort, I yell to turn. She turns at the last minute and rams the dock with the side of the boat. Luckily the boat and the dock survived. I got in the boat a little pissed off and she blamed everything on the boat. Throttle was too hard. Throttle was stuck. Forgot how to stop a boat. Everything that you could think of other than she didn't know what she was doing.
She hasn't even asked to do it again.
