I'm waiting to load my boat at the Heath Ramp on ray hubbard.. I'm watching two young ladies pulling up to the dock as they are talking to an older lady.. I'm watching in disbelief as they are moving at a good rate of speed... Then it happens.. BAM!! Right into the dock!! Older lady is talking sternly to the driver and all I hear is " I pushed the stop button!!! It wouldn't stop!" I had to turn my head because of the laughter!! Oh wow!! Welcome to Summer folks!!
It was a jet ski. Sorry, didn't put that in there. Lol

Took my wife out once and she was adamant that she wanted to drive the boat while I parked the trailer. She argued that she has grew up driving boats and knew what she was doing. I advised against it then tried to explain things but got the "I know what I am doing" response. I had a feeling that it was a bad idea but finally gave in. After parking, I walked the dock and here she comes. She started picking up speed...I yell for her to slow down and she says she doesn't know how. I told her to pull back on the throttle, speed still building...I yell to turn off the key...a little faster now...shift into reverse...impact was inevitable now. Finally as a last resort, I yell to turn. She turns at the last minute and rams the dock with the side of the boat. Luckily the boat and the dock survived. I got in the boat a little pissed off and she blamed everything on the boat. Throttle was too hard. Throttle was stuck. Forgot how to stop a boat. Everything that you could think of other than she didn't know what she was doing.

She hasn't even asked to do it again.

I've always thought it might be good entertainment to go sit at the ramp at any of the area lakes on a holiday weekend. No telling what you might see / experience cheers

There is no neutral on a jet ski so the impeller is always turning. She probably meant the kill switch (stop engin button) to coast in. Keep in mind that they steer poorly at low speeds.

I was at the ramp one day loading when I heard an engine rev really loud and then a terrible screeching noise. A lady and a kid were on a jetski at the ramp and one of them hit the accelerator and took a new ski about 8' out of the water and up the concrete ramp.

It's in the same category as blinker fluid and tire lube. Keep looking. thumb

Most of the new jet skies have reverse throttle which they call the brake... Prob what she meant if it was a newer one. Still great story! Love hearing these ramp stories only more to come over summer
