That is probably your best bet, I tried to find someone to rebuild my Merc trim motor and finally bought one off ebay......

I just had a Mercury trim motor rebuilt in Texarkana at Magneto 89.00 and working great! Any alternator and starter shop should be able to work on it. You just have to get it off of the motor.
