How do you safely get rid of old rusty hooks?

crimp the barb down and put them between a couple of pieces of painters tape. If I have just a few I crimp the barb and bend them in with pliers, but I have a ton of them!

I use spent water bottles at the end of the day to place used plastics, cuts of frayed line, destroyed hooks, empty Snickers wrappers...then I put the lid back on and it'll keep till the Second Coming of Christ...LOL...if you have a large amount of nasty hooks use a large mouth Gatoraid bottle to drop them in for safe disposal...just my two cents...

Best idea. I can then put it in the recycle bin and let them dispose of them.
