Does anyone know what is showing up from top to bottom this year? It is only in certain parts of all the east texas lakes. The rest of the lake will be clear. Algae bloom, plankton,? What do the gurus think?

Fly tier (yeah, I can fly fish...but the fish don't like frothy water!)

snappa your running your unit kinda hot. turn it down some and see what it shows. looks like scattered baitfish though.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

That was 18 FOW, but this was 10.5 FOW without trimming the contrast or sharpness.
Same lake, different depth. I am getting this on every lake.

A huge thank you to all who have contributed not only pictures, but the analysis comments. I came from the mid 90's sonar, replaced those in early 2000's and eventually sold my bass boat. Just recently got into kayak fishing and have had to do a lot of studying to come up to speed on DI and SI although I only opted for a Hook 5 for the kayak. If I buy another boat, it will have a top of the line unit.

I think the really amazing part of modern sonar tech is the post from several pages back that showed a submerged vehicle that ended up solving a 27 year old missing woman case after the vehicle was retrieved from the lake. That vehicle would have probably gone unnoticed with earlier 2d unless someone was specifically looking for something like that.

Although I primarily fish for sandies, I really want to do more crappie fishing as not having to cut out the red meat saves time when there's a limit of fish to be cleaned.

I recorded my sonar on an outing the other day and it's great to be able to sit in the house and play back my trip, doing a more thorough analsis of the images and being able to GPS tag anything of interest.

As a metal detectorist in my other hobby (aka dirt fishing), the machine will make educated guesses as to coin denomination based on known conductivity, size, and edge hardness but of course it's not foolproof. I'm surprised that sonar engineers have yet to analyze fish targets and make educated guesses as to species based on habits and size. After all, how many times to you see a dense school of blue catfish hanging around a tree like crappie do?

Thanks again for this thread. Has taken me a few days to get through all 25 pages, but it was well worth the time it took.

I agree that this is one of the best threads on the TFF. I look back through it every now and then just to reanalyze the graph pics. Finding that car was a pretty cool experience. I still meet people that tell me that they found the car. Then I just show them the pics I took and they get real quiet.

I would like to get some opinions from some of our experienced graph users. Is this a bunch of brush loaded with fish? Fairly new to down and side scan capabilities and any insight will be appreciated. Any idea on species as well? Thanks in advance.

these are loaded with what looks to be crappie robinson, and I agree this is the best thread on tff. many times ive gone back and read the entire thread and learned at least one thing from it. Ive gotten very confident with my units over the last year and ive been catching a lot more fish and I give credit to most of that coming from electronics. not just SI and DI but 2D as well.

They go pretty deep here in Minnesota. Surface temp was about 50 in November when I took this.
