Article, Where was Fish and Game? Could they not have set up shop around some of these boats and pulled safety checks or just watched for harassment of an angler? I'm not singling out either state or angler but where they not aware that a major event was taking place that time and place. I would bet a few well placed state boats would end the horse puckey. Maybe they don't truly care.

There are no state laws defining how close you can get to another angler while fishing. A game warden can't do anything about a guy fishing close to a pro.

So you are encouraging government involvment for special interest groups out on the water? Remember that next time your fishing near where someone has set up a slalom course and the skiers complain.
And just making "random" checks to allow the pros "clear" water is/could be considered harassment...

Unfortunately being an a****** isn't a crime. The pros just have to deal with it. They know how because honestly this is not a new problem it's just that there are bigger audiences and therefore more a******* to deal with. I think the article was just a way for Ike to vent. There are many opinions about it none right or wrong. People will agree and disagree with him. Issue will not go away as long as they are fishing public water.

I don't expect to race my car at Daytona during an event or squeeze in a round of golf at Augusta during the masters. I understand it's public water, but they close public streets for parades. I do think something should be done.

As a safety concern they have DUI checkpoints don't they? I know that is public property also. An Angler has the right to not be hassled by you fools that think it is cool. It is the lax enforcement that is causing this problem. If you have 4 guys in 1 boat what is the weight load of that boat? Most of you Bubba's tip the scale over 275lb. That alone would be 1,100lbs. I'm not aware of a bass boat that is load rated for that. Not to mention all the other violations a sharp cop can hang on your arz. So is that how you see Government Involvement?

I have worked the last 3 BASS Elite events in Texas. I saw the hole jumping in many different forms the 4 days I ferried BASS Bloggers and Photographers around. I tell you how to fix it. I can't say anything because I was working for BASS. I followed Hank Cherry for 3 of the 4 days. One fan was there every day. On Thursday he was the only boat following Hank when we pulled up. On Sat. a local moved in on the short stretch of bank Hank was fishing and caught a fish not 40 yds. in front of Hank. Hank did not say a word but you could tell he was upset. Without anyone saying anything the fan who had been there every day put his trolling motor in high speed ,went up to the man, and politely explained the situation. (I could hear every word he said). The man put his rods away, hollered to Hank good luck and left.
Then answer to the problem is the TRUE fans should help police the other fans. Don't have to get in a fight, but let them know what they are doing is detrimental to the Tournament Angler.

It would be nice if all the officials/camera men riding in the boats had a number to call Parks and Wildlife just for that weekend. I understand that they were out in force; so I am sure one of them would come a running if there was a problem on the water.
