Anyone ever tried to catch a carp on a fly pole?

I know it sounds crazy but I think it would be one heck of a fight. Throw some corn out and bait up with a couple of kernels on a small strong hook and lay the line out in the corn. If a carp does pick it up and the hook up is good you will be in for some fun.

It is fun. I would do that some times when barge fishing. Sometimes I would mount a Zebco on the rod instead of the regular fly reel.

This is actually pretty common but with flies tied just for carp. There are even "bread" flies for those park carp. You are right it is a battle especially in a river or creek with running water. In the summer I will go to the Brazos and site fish them with the fly rod, it's good times.
