What rod and also what reel are you using?
What LB test line.
Do you throw both baits with same rod reel set up?

Thanks

Dobyns Champion 805
Lews BB1 5-1 gear ratio
15 # Invizx
Yes

I hear the Champion 806 is a good one for these crank baits but it was not out when I got the 805.

I use a Duckett 7-11 and the same Lews reel for throwing the 6XD and smaller cranks.

Dobyns 806 is a great choice for those baits.. You can make a bomb of a cast with it

If you buy Dobyns only keep it two years then sell it. The eyes never last and end up cutting your line. I had it happen on 2 Dobyn rods I purchased.

I use the Dobyns 805 CB but really want a 806 for the bigger DD crankbaits. I use a Johnny Morris signiture series reel in I think 5.1:1 ratio. It depends on where I'm fishing, but I use Big Game in 10-15lb. test. I mostly use 12lb., but Big Game is cheap enough to change it out as needed.

I was hoping that someone would chime in that had used a BPS Cranking Stick for these.
I have used two of them for square bill and medium depths up to bout 12' and they did a good job.
Just not sure how they would be on those really big crank baits.

I also use a Dobyns 806 CB for 8/10 XD's and DD22's. I have an old Curado 3.8:1 and use Big Game 12lb. mono.

For you guys using 12lb do you have to take it easy casting or do you just heave away?
