We have a house rented on Indian Beach the 5th of June for a week. Last year at Kalula Beach was awesome. Caught a boat load of fish everyday , and the sea weed was not bad at all. Just wondering how it is so far this year. We mainly surf fish right behind the house. Also if anyone can help , what is the fish that looks like a catfish that is not goos to eat? I no that one of them also looks like a catfish but is good to eat.

hardhead is smaller with shorter fins. gafftop is larger with longer fins and covered with slime, they are edible. the beach is looking good right now.

It has been pretty clear the last two trips down. April and May. Not much meat on a gaftop until they hit 6 lbs, lots of head.

Friends near Freeport told me with all the rain, they're having trouble getting shrimp. I took this to mean there are not a lot of bait in the area. Fish follow the bait, so it wasn't that good.

One 10-pounder is better than ten 1-pounders; but 100 1-pounders is ok too!

There have been some great reports out of the surf, when the wind is right to fish it. If you catch a break and find a calm day or a light north wind.. hit it.
