With all this rain coming lately I had a question. If your fishing and all your rods, reels, and gear is sitting out, are there and tips or tricks you have to protect them? Particularly with the reels, if they get wet, do you need to do anything special to them afterwards?
I'm thinking of fishing this weekend and the weather like wet, but quite honestly, I need to get out to the lake.

Nope. Just oil them a few times a year.

Reels are made to be used around water. They will be fine.

Some of your poles might start looking kinda milky, but it will go away after there dry no worries.

Don't worry about it. The electronics are the only thing that I would be the least bit worried about it. I've never took any off though and don't do anything different than when I normally fish except wear rain gear.

The boat carpet under the reels will begin to show the oily water on it over time. I always clean that spot as soon as I get home before it drys and sets into the carpet.

Reels are made to be used around water. They will be fine. That's about the nicest way I think that could be said. Come on man. . .they're fishing reels. They get soaked every time you use them.
