Today I had my Bud's, Ronny and Howard, out on Lake Somerville for the morning. I needed some fish for my freezer and they never want to keep any for themselves anyway. They were surprised at how far we had to back into the lake to launch and load the boat. The lake is finally starting down a little, with the gates open, and the creeks crested and starting down. I hope everyone on the holiday weekend is safe and courteous at the boat ramp, since loading and unloading will be slow. Remember too, there are barbeque pits and picnic tables under water around the parks.

I had located some fish yesterday ( 74 cats), since they have been moving with the water level changes, and we returned to the area today. They fish were still hungry
today. We managed to boat 65 nice cats, up to 7#, for the morning. That should put some figs on the shelf for me, since I trade a friend fish for figs to make preserves. I go thru fig preserves about as fast as I do Noonday Onions.

All fish caught using corks in 7-8 foot water, on CJ's Crawdad punch bait.

this is so impressive giving the way the water is yoyoing. Sometimes I think you must have a direct line to the dispatcher of catfish :-) It's pretty much the only explanation that fits :-)

Nice catch there Weldon. They just might be closing those gates again. We just got a 1.5" of rain in less then a hour over here where the East Yegua starts. Sounds like we are getting a lot of rain on the Little River and Brazos also. Honestly, much rather see the rain then the droughts.

Yep, last of boat ramps should close by tomorrow, and you are right, with Brazos on rise gates will shut. Limestone Lake area has had 8+ inches too, so Navasota river is going to be flooding the Brazos. A mess everywhere.
