So I was given about $300 worth of tackle today from one of my wife's co-workers and came across these "JitterBug" lures... I've never used them and was wanting some helpful knowledge from the experts here at TFF on how to fish them, and what type of cover!! My guess is that it's a top water style bait.. Help please!! Thanks in advance!

Old school bait. Open water, low light. Cast and wind. Light grass, cast and wind.

Go to the web and find old fishing shows, they should be fishing it some...

Pretty simple, just cast and wind. Stop and go or fast. I threw one the other day and didn't even have to retrieve. They were hitting it when it hit the water.

A black jitterbug is one of my all time favorite nighttime lures. They work about anywhere as long as you don't have surface vegetation. I've always liked throwing them up along docks at night. Chug chug, pause. Chug chug chug chug pause. I've had bass hit it after it's sat for nearly a minute.

My first bass on an artificial lure attached a perch-colored Jitterbug just after dawn on the golf course in Landa Park down in New Braunfels in 1951. I've thrown Jitterbugs ever since....still have 3 in my boat. My first 8+ hit a black one at night on Newman Lake, Washington as I was retrieving it steadily parallel to the outer lily pad line. Caught some really big bass at night in Arkansas casting a black Musky Jitterbug. It's very difficult to fish them wrong, unless you crank too fast.
