Hey guys, I just moved to lake worth and need a few tips. I know it's not a popular lake but the boat permit is cheap and the ramp is down the street from my house. What areas should I fish and what baits do they normally hit? My buddy and I fished this lake on the 20th and got skunked with the exception of his lmb the size of his hand on a watermelon red flake baby brush hog shallow, and my bluegill that went after a crankbait larger than it's mouth. Any tips would be appreciated.

When all else fails tx rig docks with finesse worms and craws or make the 10 minute drive to Eagle mountain. I caught over 40 this past weekend.

I was at Lake worth last weekend and out of nowhere fish started schooling by the boat in the shallows. Threw my jig and caught a big Sandbass. Must have came from EM because I've never caught any that big in worth. The fry were everywhere too.

Finesse worms around the reeds and humps, and squarebills around the boat docks worked pretty good last weekend. At least it was pretty good for Lake Worth; I never can seem to light'em up there.

Can't go wrong fishing the bridges! Cranks, drop shot, and wacky. You'll get bit. That's on any lake.

I have never had good luck catching black bass there. I can catch some whites when trying to catch black bass and I can occasionally find the crappie.

Is there an annual boat permit for Eagle Mountain Lake? I'm 10 minutes from the twin points boat ramp but I just can't afford the increased launch fee if I am to go out Saturday and Sunday every weekend. I went out on EM about a month ago, just didn't know where to go on that lake either. On EM I was somehow able to lose not only 1 fish, but 3 on a squarebill, spinnerbait, and t-rigged brush hawg. That's all the action I had while my buddy landed 2 dinks. I appreciate all of the suggestions, I'll definitely give them a try this weekend. I know Lake Worth isn't a popular lake, which is why the annual boat launch is so cheap. You just can't beat $20 for the year especially when it's $20 for 1 day at EM.

not sure thee is an overall permit for EM, some of the marinas you can buy a pass, but it wont be cheap. If you are going to use the lake a lot it may make sense from an economics standpoint.

Mr. Biggs is correct as usual, don't leave the reeds. Unless they are out of the water, and even then, make a cast. If you think the water is to hot to fish shallow, do it anyway. I like to make a game plan, then do the exact opposite out there. I think it is fishing a little harder since the dredging, but it was never gangbusters anyway.

"A permit is required through the Parks and Wildlife Department. You may pick up a permit at the Casino Beach Mart (817-237-5101) located at 7601 Jacksboro Hwy. or at Navajo Burgers (817-237-9992) located at 7028 Navajo Trail. Information concerning a boat permit is not available on the Internet so you will need to contact their locations for details."

Shady Grove park has a free ramp. It's ok to use it when the lake is full like it is now. There are a bunch of no boat loading fools that use that ramp on the weekends though... you have to be patient !

What Buda13 said. I got mine from Navajo Burgers. The casino beach mart's hours say they open at 6 am but they were definitely not open when we went by there at 7 to get a boat permit. It's $15 for Fort Worth residents and $20 for non-residents for the calendar year.

You need your trailer license plate number to get a Lake Worth permit (good to know in case your not pulling your trailer when you get one).

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

Am pretty sure there is a TPW advisory against eating fish from that lake.

Put 17 in th boat, biggest was 2lbs and lost another 6 or so at the boat. All dinks but still some action. ALL were crank baits thrown in the reeds. Took a senko rig but have zero confidence in it as I have never fished it, just could pick it up while the little woman was kicking my butt. Next time out I'm going to FORCE myself to use a senko only but it will be hard.

My biggest complaint is not being able to use the west dock to load up from the 2 or 3 guys that string out a dozen catfish rigs. I know it's petty but still hate beaching the boat to go get the truck. May have to look into using another ramp, not sure if the one under the bridge has the same problem.

Where on the lake are the "reeds"? I've never fished lake worth so I thought maybe someone can save me from having to run around the lake.

Reeds are from the dam to the river. The 820 arm has the best reeds, however the 199 arm has good reeds too.

I took my wife out Saturday afternoon for her first time on the boat. She didn't want to wait until the evening so we headed out around 3 pm. The boat is new to us as is backing up the trailer. We did alright but it looks as if the 820 ramp is much more user friendly than the casino beach ramp. I'll definitely be using the 820 ramp from now on. I should have made her wait to go because it was crazy busy on the lake and was really hot at that time. Only fished for about an hour and caught 3 dinks, 2 on a small square bill and 1 on a black/blue swimjig. All 3 were caught off the 2 islands in about 2 ft of water. A couple weeks ago My buddy and I fished the reeds and stumps on the other side on 199 not even a single bite but it was pretty muddy over there.

I tried today and had my best day for bass in 2 yrs. Only landed 2,but I lost about 7 or 8. I had at least a 5lb break off at the boat. I was trying out plastics fir pretty much the first time, had a problem getting hook set.
