Me and dad and son are headed to out to PK Saturday, my dad wants to try for the white bass. Any pointers, baits, lures, spots? I don't normally fish for them, so I really dont know

Go to the point just Southwest of South D&D ramp just across the lake. All the Sandies and some striper there. Catching them on swim baits and roadrunners! Last two trips I went there and the caught all you could want. Bigger fish seem to be in the deeper water at the 30 to 40 foot range on live bait. Anywhere from Bass island to the Dam. Better have your head on a 360 degree swivel for that teenager on the jet ski for his first time. I have guests coming out this weekend that want to fish. All that traffic makes it rough.

By 10:30 last weekend the south end of the lak was already covered in ski boat and jet skis.

Yes it was, you would have thought it was Memorial Day already. I had two punk kids test my patience while we were anchored.

Middle of Neelys, no, we did go there early but were on the West Side of it real close to the bluff. The jet ski deal happened over by the Scout Camp.

Nice fish! Great way to break in a new bait tank and make you feel better about the investment:) I'm going to PK for the first time next weekend and camping at the state park and super excited... I was wondering if you you caught your shad during the day or early morning and where in Neeley I might look for shad? Also, any recommendations where I should look for some nice striper would be great!

I chose not to guide on holiday weekends. I'll be off the water and back in Aledo by 6:00 PM Friday.
Lots of fish from South DD to the dam. Unfortunately there will be equal amounts of boats, jet skis, and LEO's. Have fun and make sure you have all the legal stuff.

I can catch shad in the day. Too lazy to get up early. Just go in the back of coves and creeks and look slowly along the sides. Watch for spashing and fish hitting the surface. Most of the time that's small largemouth or sandies attacking a big school of shad.

You are right about that randy. before we got the rain and filled up there were two old throw nets stick in cedars visible in the back of Neely Slough. I am amazed at how tough those 70+ year old petrified cedars are. They won't give lures or a shad net back.

Randy: The wife said she saw your boat in the slough early this morning. I know you were out Friday. We caught a bunch of stripers late Friday afternoon. Not going today. Just watching the boat show.
