I've fished about 10-15 tournaments since I started fishing heavy 2 years ago, I've got the splitting cost on things such as food, hotel and gas down!! What other things should a co-angler know to help on the water and better his experience?!

i had my very first tourney fished as a co angler! boy did i hit the jackpot! lesson learned bringing hard maps isn't a bad idea, if they don't have graphs, maybe have your navi app on your phone updated (if accessible).and be a handy man , incase you need to work on the boaters motor! (true story) and maybe have some fishing spots in mind just in case the boater has no idea how to fish or find spots! my luck right, this happen out on toledo for the aba! still managed to put us on some fish(: using my phone, and got his motor working arnt i the greatest(:

I better learn how to work on a motor lol and I have the navi app and love it!! As a co- angler that fishes with pros or serious anglers, miso you think it's only fair to share methods on what your catching your fish on? I fished with one guy and he wouldn't share his strategy for that day and left me in the blue on what the lure setup to use!!! Next day he went cold and and I cashed a check using a Shakey head all day

Is that fair game or should boater and co-angler help each other out?

Good guy thing to do is share. But,but isn't required. Co anglers are tattle tail nannies for boaters and vise versa.

My headache is always with co and trailer, usually at the ramp. Gotta back straight and park straight. You are in command of 100K truck and rig. When ever you are backing rig down ramp you gotta have the man in the boat in your view-mirror--always. Gotta pay attention how deep trailer needs to be in water at ramp to load.

Don't set the hook on the marker buoy, and secure your chartreuse dye at all times!

Well I drive 18 wheelers so backing want be a problem!!

If a pro is worried about his 100K truck and rig, then why doesn't he do it himself? That's a lot of liability being placed on somebody who doesn't own the stuff.

Because the pro asked the co " if they could" and the co "trying to be cool"'says yes....then [censored] happens !

Lol!!! I've done it every time I've fished!! It's about trust!!

A fishing guest gave my trailer a wrinkled fender as a reminder of the outing. He said he could "park the truck/trailer (driving FORWARD only) no problem" - but failed to tell me he had never in his life towed a trailer so much as 10 feet. He did not tell me after he parked the rig in the morning.

He waited until we returned to the ramp in the afternoon to give me the bad news of what I would find when I went to retrieve the trailer and back it down the ramp. He said it did not damage the Ranch Hand bumper he hit when he turned short. I had to pry the fender off the tire with a tire tool in order to drive home.

As a co I ask for two casts notice before it's time to roll. Getting your gear stowed, life jacket on and rods secured while the pro is waiting on you isn't cool. They've got significantly more invested so it's part of being courteous and respectful.

I had one that we had a similar agreement on once. Worked pretty good for a while. But when I had three fish in the box and he had one, it started to get ugly. I'd hook into one and he would just say "we're moving". Before I even had the fish in the boat he was impatiently waiting for me. Lol. He was having a bad day. He even started purposely poling down the boat so I had no angles to productively fish from. The rule applying to "boater may not ask the co to stop fishing, or pay them...blah blah blah" must have been written for guys like that one. He all but said it. He made comments like I was "stealing his fish" as he would finish casting to a spot, I'd hit it. Lol.

Man. Good luck with the cordial fishing. It isn't pro vs co....but it seems like it sometimes. Lol
