I've moved close to EML and looking for some help to find whites.
Don't know the lake much but I've put in at Oak Grove Park and tried to get familiar. Love catching Sandies and hybrids...I know there are Sandies here but haven't got a clue where to start or what to use.
I've got a lake map and a boat. Any help would be appreciated. Maybe someone would like to go with me and give me a lesson or two. My schedule is somewhat flexible and prefer mid week rather than fighting weekend boat traffic.

Thanks
Zak

Eagle Mountain is similar to other lakes. Look on humps ridges and drop offs.

Zak, save your time and gas money and book a trip with sandjohnny. Sounds like the lake is just now starting to heat up. I understand it's frustrating to pay to go fishing when you have a boat but I find it more frustrating to be fishing all day then reading about sandjohnny catching ALL day. If you book your trip with him very soon you'll be catching with Johnny the entire time the bite is good. Good luck!

Look on main lake points in 1 to 10ft of water early and then as the morning progresses look in 12 to 18ft around points and slopes. Rooster tails or small swim baits up shallow and a slab and fly combo for every other depth. In my opinion Johnny has the best slab available,at least for me.

Congrats on the move! We just moved onto EM, and absolutely love it.

Is it worthwhile to fish for sandbass at night?

I've caught a lot of sand bass at night by accident, drifting for catfish with shad for bait.

When the temp warms up a little more you will find some luck fishing dock lights at night for sand bass.

Not been to EM lately. I use Ole Ugly's and nothing else there. I do have a little change on some of them. I put a few feathers on the treble hooks and cut one of the of points off of the hook. I am usually fishing with my son-in-law and he doesn't like my feathers so if he is doing better than me I change slabs. He won't change if I am doing better than him. Just a touch of advice: if you are having trouble locating fish, troll a couple of hell-pets around until you catch one, then slab. South of the island is always a good place to start.

See if you can gather up a couple of buddies to split up the cost, just a thought.

Short note. Was on EM yesterday with Grandson and his girlfriend. Glad to say EM is back. Ole Ugly's and homemade flies catching fish. One short observation, if you catch 20 or so dinks, move. Larger fish will be near by.
