You see and rea about anglers hitting multiple spots or a lot of spots to fish in tourneys and is that a seasonal attitude or lake or your preference? Do you just sit and wait it out knowing it's gonna be good later in the day or do you scout out other places similar and hit a few spots to see if they have moved there or whatever. Just curious is why I am asking since it seems sometimes the higher placing folks seem to hit several spots and its a timing thing. Thank you for your input.

Only reason to leave the starting spot is if they aren't biting. Don't leave fish to find fish.

If the fish aren't biting at a certain spot, you move. That's just how it works. Why keep grinding if you aren't expecting a bite? I give a spot 20-30 mins and if I don't get bit of see signs of fish, I'm moving.

Move. Come back later and try again if you need to.

It's a timing thing if you are fishing in deep water where they live. It is about being on fish and pre-fishing for months to find the best shallow water spots on the lake. If you are going to have a nice sack of fish you must put that time in on that lake or get lucky and many do once in a while.
I fish 60 spots up shallow just to find the 3 best shallow water bites on the lake. It last the first hour and a half at day break. I spend 30 minutes on each one of them unless I hit the mother load. I like to go to all 3 spots to save fish. I take what I can get on one pass through those 3 areas.
SECOND: I follow these shallow water fish to mid range depths as they are coming and going from their deep comfort zone. Big fish use the same route each day on their feeding ground toward the shore as they feed. Some of them feed up way before they get to the shore and return to their comfort zone. I do everything I can to track those 3 shallow water spots to where all those fish are coming from. I want to also have 3 mid range spots to fish from 8:30 to 11:30 trying to stay on some fish in 5 to 12 ft. of water.
THIRD: You must have 3 deep water spots where these fish live and rest in their comfort zone. I want these 3 spots to have as much cover on the lip of the drop so they will be much easier to catch. Fish that hug the wall of a bluff in 20 ft. of water are very difficult to get to bite with no cover on top. They leave this zone and travel that same route each day from bush, to stump, to rock pile or whatever else is there on the way to the shallows.
This gives me 9 places on each lake to fish in one day. You will find good fish on one of them year round. This takes time an commitment to one lake until you accomplish it.

Milk runs. Multiple spots that get checked throughout the day. Especially when fishing deep. Only exception would be a big bass event. In that instance, I'll usually stay put.

I tend to be the type that will sit there for hours and grind it out on one spot if I know it has the right ones just because most of the time it's all timing to get them to bite.

Here is my .02. I fish the weekly Wednesday night tournaments here on Lake Austin. These tourneys or 3.5 hours long vs the standard 8-9 hour normal tourneys. So basically your fishing time is cut in half. So you have less time to make decisions as to stay or not. Sometimes the decision is to hit the same water again, due to timing. What this has allowed me to do is make better decisions and more frequent decisions during normal tourney hours by applying what I do in the 3.5 hours. The results speak for themselves and it allows me to be more aggressive and I am not afraid to move. Even if I am on fish, small ones that is. I know its hard to leave fish to find fish, but when you are only catching squeakers, that will not win you jack. Now that does not mean abandon what you are doing but learning from it. IF the smaller fish are shallow then fish deeper and visa versa. This has proven valuable multiple times. Learn to trust you instincts and your gut reaction. Multiple times in these weekly tournys I have been going to the next area and I see a spot that looks good and I will whip the boat in there and the results have been very rewarding. Albeit may have been one fish, but it was the right fish.
These weekly tournaments has allowed me to make decisions without second guessing myself.

Go off what your gut says. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but I guarantee one thing, if you don't listen to it, you will be thinking about it all the way home when whatever else you did didn't work. Fish the here and now all the time

Fish the here and now all the time ^^^^ This exactly. My wife and I sit on one brush pile in a Thursday night tourney on Lake Winnsboro last June and caught a 21.08 lb stringer to win the tourney. We only caught 6 fish all evening but they were the right ones. Normally I would have moved after catching the first one then not catching anything for 30 minutes but something told me to stay and keep firing crank baits in there and it paid off big time.

Like the others have said it all just depends. Fished a tournament 2 weeks ago and made a decision to leave biting fish because they were all just line burners and knew that wouldn't help us. Sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesn't.
