The MK 112 Fortress is the best I've ever had. Motor guide might come up with something better next week as they go back and forth in improved reliability but from now on, its MK for me.

Minn kota. Reasons: shaft strength, noise factor, pedal comfort..

Wow guess their are only few motorguide fans left. Have owned and operated both hands down mg .
I can't get past the button on the wrong side of pedal and plastic head that will break or the loose steering cables. As far as composite shaft nonsense have owned mostly mg but have owned Minkota as well never bent a shaft . My friend has x5 and loves it he had a mk hated it with a passion.
motorguide for me keep that Yankee junk

Both are great motors but I have been a MK guy since 2006.

When I fish I use my MotorGuide Tour 82 shallow and it is tough as nails. I run it into 1 foot, use it as a power pole cast around lift it up to get out of the area and move one. The mount flexs enough. Lot of pros use Motorguide. I have never used a Minn Kota so I don't have a reference point to the OP's question.

I have had both, no real issues with either. I hated the pedal on MK

I've had both and had tons of trouble with Minn-Kota. I don't know why. The MG I have now has never been to the shop and I've had it for 6 years.

got a a 74lb maxxum on my aluminum duck/river boat and 80lb maxxum on my ranger boat...both are 8-10 years old and both have been bulletproof.....MK in my experience is much better in grass or weeds...

Take advantage of the good advice on here, MINNKOTA. I had a MG Tour82 and replaced it with a MK Maxxum
65 and it was at least a 1/3 stronger and twice as quiet as the MG plus the foot control was smooth as silk. I have a ZX190 and it's a pretty heavy boat but the MK will almost get it on pad.

I have a Minn that's 12 years old, and I have never touched it. I'll buy another one just like it when it finally quits. It's a Maxxum.

I have a MK that i break every time I use it( or at least once a week I break something on it). I still prefer it to a motor guide.
