What is most important to you in terms of pitch on your prop? To my knowledge, 24 is better for hole shot and getting to plane, but lacks in total speed. 25 has a good hole shot and total speed, and 26 lacks a little in the hole shot but has better total speed. I currently have a 25 on my skeeter.

For each of you, as either a back up prop or if you were simply going to run just one, what is most important and which pitch do you prefer? Assuming normal conditions I guess, because I would assume in rough water you want to get up quickly etc.

I run an original Yamaha 15 1/8" X 25 Pitch T1 prop on my FX 21/250 SHO. I can turn a 27 in colder weather, but the 25 gives me the best overall performance day in and day out. It's been tuned by Steve Glenn and provides a bit more lift and top end than the stock T1.

That is the exact prop I am running and seem to be doing well. With just me and a light load I can get to around 72 or so. For a back up prop, or spare, is it worth getting anything else or just stick to the 25?

I'd carry another 25, personally.

The best prop pitch is relative to what size motor, what size boat (and how heavy a load). All figure in to choice needed. Also, how high/low your motor is mounted, may need adjusting.

I carry the same prop for a spare, as the one I run. 25 Tempest. Some will carry a 4 blade for the rougher conditions. Every boat/motor combo is different. Different props can require a different set up. i.e. Prop to pad measurement.
