So I'm thinking about going up to ray Roberts to do some kayak fishing for bass this weekend with a friend. It will be our first time kayak fishing. Anyone have a recommendation of where to go that they wouldn't mind sharing?

Just don't get in the way of the people fishing the Toyota Texas Bass Classic! I would hate to upset Kevin VanDam haha.

Yeah, lake might be a bit busy with that thing going on.

Go for it! The wind will be down and temps will be warming up. It's a big lake with plenty of room for the tournament and your kayak.

If you want to minimize the chance of getting caught up in the tournament, fish the west arm of the lake.

easy close by launching from Juniper Cove campground, Johnson branch.
There are parking spots for those who are not camping.

I'd like to add another question. We wanted to go kayaking down the greenbelt corridor but not sure if it's safe for children due to high waters. Anyone have any info?

Workfishngolf37, from the dam to 428 will be less than 3 hours with 2500 cfs from the people I've talked to who have made the run recently. It's doable with the current at 2500 cfs like it is now, but some skill and experience is well advised. Just make sure you don't miss the exit point because it would be a pain to paddle back upstream. I'd wait till they drop the flow a bit if the kids are young and/or aren't experienced, maybe 1250 cfs or less.
