I have always been a bait cast guy but the last time trout fishing at the coast it was windy and I got tired of the bird nests. I am trying a different line, but am also getting a spinning reel since I can switch the handle to a right hand retrieve. Anyway, did some research and found a brand I was not familiar with -- Kastking. They had a lot of positive reviews, have a great drag system and 10 ball bearings. Plus most are less than $50 although I like the looks of the Orcas model ($63) for the saltwater. Anyone have any experience with these spinning reels? Thanks.

I have a couple of Kastking 7:1 baitcasters and like them. I have 65lb braid on one for flipping, and it's worked great.

With spinning reels, I usually end up getting a Pflueger President from Wmart (seen them anywhere from $30 to $60) Excellent reel for the price.

Another good reel at the upper end of that price range is the Shimano Sedona.

Anyone?

I guess the Kastking spinning reels are new kids on the block. Not carried by Academy, Bass Pro, or Cabela's yet. Did find them on Amazon and will probably pull the trigger on one in the next few days.

Got one in from Amazon. Very smooth and casts great. Sill need to take it to the water and see how it does with something on the other end besides a weight.

If you were spending 75-100 I would look at anything Shimano makes. The Sahara is a great reel.
