How much room do you have in the slayer propel 13? I need a ride that my 70 lb lab can ride along on comfortably.
I really like that the propel drive is reversable. Any experience here?

Take your lab to one of the demo days. Your dog should be fine as long as you can keep him/her on the kayak and out of the lake.

I took my 9 year old son out in a Slayer Propel 13. He weighs about as much as your dog and he was able to sit in the front hatch (no, I didn't bungee him down wink ). The kayak was definitely front heavy but I was able to do a short ride with no issues. But you need to consider a few things.

I don't weigh much and I didn't have any gear in the back so there wasn't much weight to balance the kayak. Also, I have the seat pushed way forward so that's even more weight to the front.

The further forward you have the seat, the more room you'll have behind the chair for tackle. The rear compartment (not the area directly behind the seat) is about 24" long and the dog would probably have plenty of room there.

I wouldn't consider the area directly in front of the chair to be a possibility.

Thanks ^^

I figured he would need to go in the back. I wish they made a 14.5 model with propel drive. Maybe by the time I can afford one they will nuts

LowerLiz, that's a great ideal. I'll have to do that.

You don't have to wait for a demo day, call Mariner and tell them what you want to do a test ride in. Then meet them at the Thurdsay night demo paddles they have on white rock and bring the pup with you.
