Very nice Buffalo, Goldens, & Flathead! Beautiful fish! Yea, CPR those monsters. Those tacklebusters have earned the right to swim another day and give someone else an adrenline rush. Fish like those will let you know your alive. So I hear, like most fish the smaller ones 1-3 pounds are the best ones for the table.

I can catch big cats very consistently, but I have tried carp and not a bite. I've tried at Toledo Bend even when I can see them jumping and nothing. Tried using corn, with a tiny hook on slacked line, even with "pack" bait. Only caught a small catfish on it. Not sure what they want. I have read the "how to" instructions on this page and tried several things. Anyone have suggestions?

well finding them is the first thing, you did that
there is what's called the euro method, it's complex using a "hair rig" style rigging and the use of bait runner reels and bite alarms but if you want to just go "old school" the sticky explains it well.

what I use when old schooling is a Carolina rig using a small circle hook, and a sliding sinker, I use a split shot perhaps 2 inches above the hook, I use regular corn and string maybe 6 or 7 kernels covering the complete hook including the shaft and even up the line abit, I like to use a flavor, dipping the corn in the flavor, then cast it out to your desired spot and "tighten" the line, you don't want a slack line, then I adjust my drag very loose to a point where it's free spooling, I will then take a handful of corn and toss it in the area i casted to and wait, when you get a hit the carp normally just run with it, very rarely will they just peck at it like Catfish will do, when they run you cup then reel, at the same time lifting the rod to set your hook, tighten drag as fast as possible and hold on.

^^^^^^ thats how its done to a T...
If you fish an area consitantly, youll need to move to hair rigs because carp learn quickly and will mouth the bait to check for hooks.... also... bombing or slingshotting chum... or even the PVwhatever things work like champs.. you can bait an area over a week and train them to feed there

try using range cubes as your chum, works very well and is rather cheap, you can find it at any feed store
