Help needed. I'm not mush of a freshwater guy and just pulled the trigger on a used Skeeter that I'll be keeping on lake Conroe. It's off to Bass Pro to start building a tackle box. On the first trip if you were to buy 7-10 lures for a foundation what would you recommend?

Don't try to buy every color known to man. Whether it's a soft plastic or a speedbait.

Pick a couple colors you like and stick with them.

I would buy a Spinnerbait, Crankbait, and a rattletrap (aka lipless crankbait). Brand / Choice is up to you to find out what you like and gain confidence in.......

Ask when you get there, pretty sure there are some knowledgable folks there to help you
Ex. i.e. , top water, shallow diver, deep diving hard baits/ soft plastics
Lots of choices but rather than go in depth here.....ask one of their folks ( first question - are you a fisherman? roflmao , if yes....listen

x2 on the yellow magic - straight silver is deadly.

A small collection of KVD Flat Bill Cranks. And a small handful of KVD 6-12 foot.

Chatter baits.

A handful of spinner baits.

4 inch senkos and 3 ought hooks. watermelon red, watermelon green

Baby brush hogs. Black with red flake, green with any flake. Sometimes just a subtle change to the flake will change a day. I can throw a brush hog with a green flake, nothing... swap to a blue flake, and it's instantly different.

Bullet weights, Tru Turn worm hooks. Black and purple worms and a case of determination. Get after the bass. Nothing will feel better than the tap tap. Break his neck!

1. Don't go to bass pro. Wait a week for the Tacklewarehouse Memorial Day sale
2. If you can't wait or the sale doesn't happen (unlikely) go to a Walmart with a good fishing section or an Academy Sports and get the following:
--yum dingers, luck e strike shime sticks, senkos or other stick baits in watermelon red, green pumpkin and black and blue
--zoom baby brush hogs and full size brush hogs in watermelon red, green pumpkin, and black and blue
--zoom flukes in pearl, watermelon red, and green pumpkin
--Havoc pit boss regular size in green pumpkin and black/blue
--3/8 oz War eagle, Stanley, Terminator, or H2O spinnerbaits in white, white+chartreuse, and a blue gill color
--beetle spins
--1/2 oz rattle trap in chrome
--7 or 8 inch plastic worms ribbon tail in green pumpkin and black and blue brand doesn't matter much
--boo yah popping frog in black, white, and a green
--pick up some shakee heads and 1/4 oz slip bullet sinkers

I have a few to spare.

I have way more than I need here and I don't mind sharing. Pick out a few colors that I have plenty of. There are rattle traps, round nose and square nose cranks and plenty of soft baits.

Hey guys, y'all help with the stuff good on Conroe and get the boy fishing!

This a one time pay it forward offer. No money involved.

Go

A good setup for Tx rigs and terminal tackle for it is the best way to start. Baby brush hogs in watermelon red and also some June bug. Get some worms like mag 2's in the same colors. Keep it simple

Second the comment about colors... for years I felt like I had to have at least 2 packs of every color made. What a waste of money!
