Ever notice the guys with the 50hp motors are the most considerate. I quit fishing Fork after 25 years because of the 70mph bass boats who simply have a problem finding a place to stop and fish. Many times I've been fishing a point and have someone inconsiderate bstard blow by so close I could read his gauges. It's just part of the attitude some people get with all that power. I run a Skeeter ZX190 with a 150 SHO but I bought it strictly to fish out of and rarely burn over 3 gal. gas. With all the ramps I could fish north, south, east or west and there are fish in all 4 locations. If this offends anyone please accept my heartfelt apologies. Just being real.

The guys in the last pic were there hanging out watching him too. Just as a point of reference, he wasn't quite as close as it may appear. I shot those shots using a 200mm zoom and a 1.7x teleconverter. The zoom factor compresses the image and sometimes things appear closer than they are really. There was probably around 100 yards or so between me and that other boat. KVD split the difference and passed about 50 yards from each of us.
The interesting part of the story is that where he was in Wolf, there is a rise between the bank and about 50 yards out. There is probably 1.5 feet of water on the top of the hump if that. He got a running start to get on plane before he crossed that hump. We were waiting for a thud, but he cleared it. I have another pic where it shows he has a motor leash on the big motor. Good idea given how those guys were zipping around a stump filled part of the lake.

I have had just as many if not more incidents where someone in a small boat either cut me off, crowded me or just generally did something most would not call courteous. It ain't the size of the boat, its the idiot behind the wheel that causes other issues.

True, the size of the motor has nothing to do with the size of the brain of the operator, but the point was that these guys with the small engines don't launch at Rainswood and blast all the way to Glade to fish and therefore not as likely to encounter as many boaters as the 70mph bass boats. I have no issues with someone who owns a $70,000 bass boat, good for them, and they all come with big engines but that $2000 trolling on the front is there for a reason. I fish a lot of different lakes but see more close calls on Fork than any other lake. Could be because there are a lot more boaters so I guess you could use I-635 in Dallas as a metaphor, but I choose to stay away from both as much as possible.

I don't really care how close someone passes me on pad as long as they don't hit me or drive over the cover/structure I'm fishing

Last week everyone was complaint about locals and spectators being to close, running to close, or fishing to close to the pros. Now this week people are complaining about the pros doing it to local, non tourney fishers, and spectators. Now our fishing community is becoming as bad as the USA. Complain about this, then change their minds and complain about something else.
a person today was fishing the end of a point. The other bank is 2.5 feet deep until it hits the channel. Well it's roughly 60 yards from the end of the point he was fishing. Unfortunately I ran by him about 40-45 yards from him. Yes I know i was close but he sure isn't going to pay for my lower u it. Stump/Rock field point, creek channel, or 2.5' deep flat with stumps on it. Sorry but I choose the channel every time.
Guys at fork that fish points are sometimes close to the boat lanes. Well who do we get mad at? Certainly not the guy driving 60-70 trying to avoide destroying his boat and certainly not the guy trying to catch Giants. Just don't understand why we all have to be mad at fishermen.
Let's save that and the frustration for party boats and jet skis!!!

Yep..... Bunch of panty wadded dudes on here.
Me? I'd rather a 21' boat with a 250 come by on pad at 80 vs slugging by at 10 mph with the bow 6 ft in the air making huge waves. But, I don't get mad easy....In fact, I'm happy they are going by and not stopping. I'm on fish, and they are obviously still searching for them

I can't believe some of the people on this site. They will look, and find fault everywhere they go.

Love it, think this explains some of the complaining on this site. How can anyone judge distance from a camera shot from that angle..... Complex math is needed.
Great pics.

After weigh in yesterday. Looked to me like KVD made the biggest effort to work his way around "autograph alley" taking pics with kids (some Big Kids) and signing autographs. Many of the others either spent a little time or took off after weigh in.
Pretty solid in my book
PM me to let me know how it was!

We watched KVD several times all weekend, blew by us several times as he jumped from different groups of willow bushes, didn't think much about it. Was kinda cool watching him get his boat on plane in shallow water and run through the smaller willows. Course we seen several Pro's do the same thing. Sure did impress my son, course he's not paying for repairs. LOL

Kevin has to be way more careful about what he does because there are 10 times more eyeballs on him than most of the other guys. I watched a guy crowd the sheet out of him. The guy was casting distance from Kevin and rolling right over brush he may have wanted to fish. I can't believe he didn't ask the guy to back off.
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach
