I recently decided to service my reel after 10 or so years of very heavy use. This reel has caught hundreds of large reds, quite a few tuna, many kings, amberjack, grouper, cobia, sharks, Jack crevalle, and many others. I have also used this reel on all my kayak trip BTB to the rigs and turtled with it a few times.
This reel has never missed a beat and I decided it was time to open her up and lube..
Upon opening the reel, there was zero rust, some salt build on underside of the spool but the inner gears and drag still had all the factory grease and looked excellent! I was shocked to say the least. The outside of my reel looks like hell but inside looks great.
I would not hesitate buying another older quantum cabo. Awesome reel. I was so excited, I forgot to take pictures of innards.
Oh, there was also a little grit under bail side plates. I cleaned that out and relubed. Reel operates like new and will continue to be my offshore beater

The base of the handle looks pretty beat up. Don't you wish everything held up like that.
