What is your favorite fishing pier and why? What do you catch?

I've heard good things about Bob Hall.. runs the gamut of species this time of year through summer.

I'm not a pier fisherman anymore myself, but it's a good way to catch some fish.

I would advise you to take care not to fall off the pier. I don't have any advice on fishing there, if that's what you meant to ask about..... banana

Bob Hall and Red Dot r both r good piers, hit and miss like most/all. I know Red Dot produces Flounder and Reds in the fall, never been to Corpus in the Sunmer.

Bob hall pier is my preference. It has more space than the other piers in the area and has more diverse species to choose from. There has been reds/black drum over the last week and with the water clearing/warming up it should be on this weekend.

Bob Hall. I've seen plenty of Specks slapped over that side rail in June. Sharks galore too! And big big reds!

Caught my first ever shark on Bob Hall back in 1975, when I was 13. It wasn't big, maybe 30" but to me it was a monster, lol. It destroyed my little Zebco 33, stripped the gears out so we had to try and pull it up by the string. Got it slightly out of the water and it cut the line. Haven't fished there in a loooong time though, normally stick to surf fishing when we go now or head offshore. If I recall, that pier is fairly high off the water. What's the trick to getting good fish safely to the top of the pier? Nets with long handles? Heavy line? We fished off the Causeway north of Rockport a lot back when, but we typically were targeting speckled trout or sand trout so your typical 15 lb test line was sufficient to "swing" them up over the railing. Not sure what I would have done with a big fish.

Most people us what they call a pier net to land the big fish. It's a round net with a rope attached that you lower into the water.

I used to fish the piers and jetties all the time, but I got tired of the crowds. I discovered it's a lot easier and more fun to fish the beaches. I can fish a spot for about 10 minutes and move on if nothing bites, stop a few hundred feet and try again. I have ended up catching a larger variety and larger numbers this way.
