Heading out to Lake Athens for an overnight trip to fish Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning...the kicker is that I have managed to talk the wife into tagging along so I don't want to make the trip from Fort Worth to Athens if it has not been producing and if this recent rain has messed with the water conditions much. Has anyone been out on the lake recently? If so, how has the fishing been and what's the water conditions like right now? Thanks in advance..

They were still schooling in the middle and lower 1/3 of the lake on points and the surrounding creek channels. The schoolers were consistently sized 1.5-3 lbs. if you find a school and they aren't biting, move to the next.

Sorry, left off "Saturday".

I was there 1.5 weeks ago. Caught about 30, mostly on carolina rig, some very early, first light on topwater. C rig fish were 18-24 feet deep. green pumpkin baits. Also some on drop shot and shaky head. Cold front may mess with them tho

It's Athens, it's small and full of fish.

Fish points with top waters, swim baits and drag something

Think I may head out to Athens tomorrow... First time. So creek channels & main lake points with top waters, swim baits, & c-rigs?

Any particular ramp?

Thx for the tips!

Thats the easy question. Only one public ramp. By the bridge. :-)
