I was goofing around last night with some ideas and decided to give this jig needed fins . I've always liked the way the pill head jigs looked and that you can put eyes on them. So I smushed my ball heads with the flat part of some pliers and am very happy with the results I got. Tried a new combo too. I asked a buddy of mine what his all time favorite jig was and he said black and chartreuse bucktail/marabou with a red head. I made him a pack of these and mailing them today. He doesn't know they're coming, he thought I was just curious

Try putting the Red fins on something of a brighter color or even on White? Let it show as ht only Red on the jig and I think it will make more impact for the eyes and for the fish maybe. A touch of Red can work and work very well. I make a kip tail jig that I add a strip of Red thread to the bottom of the jig or the top as you tie it in the vise. Sometimes I will drop a Red flash strip in the same place on feather jigs. Have the Silver on each side and a Red right in the middle, it works!

Yeah it was just sort of a last minute decision after I had already decided on that color combo and started tying them. Thanks for the suggestion though, I will give it a shot if I decide to do anymore. It really was a pain to tie in lol. But fun for playing around.

Like that gray in top picture, what is it? And what size can it be had in? Can just see it, raw head, yellow tail, and think it would be a top jig up here north of you.

Thanks Larry! It's grey crystal antron from crazy angler. He doesn't offer any size options so I'm not sure what size it is. I'll have to try that combo for Palestine

Went over to Robert's site and checked it out. Have just over looked it in the past, but have used a good bit of the wooly bugger and antron in the past and they very good. He does carry both in number 3 so I am sure its about the same. Thanks again

They should be 3mm but I have nothing to compare to. I bought them in Crazy Anglers clearance section. Edit: the green ones were in the clearance section, he threw the yellow (better quality) in for free. My next order will have bigger eyes in it. Those aren't big enough IMO

Guys Cryatal Antron comes in 2mm, 4mm and large, don't remember what size it is, but the medium 4mm is great, but if you want to tie small jigs you should get the 2mm! I have some of both sizes! I have used this stuff for a long time now, probably at least 10 years and don't use it as much now, but do still like it a lot! Holds up much better than regular chenille!
