The vertical lines running parallel with center boat line on left side scan. I spoke to Lowrance tech help, He said it may be a bad structure scan transducer, for me to find someone else with the same transducer and try my graph plugged into that transducer. I installed all my electronics March this year. it was all new. here are a couple photos. 1 is my HDS 9 sourcing HDS 12, but it's the same picture . Here's some photos 1) transducer mounted 2) different view 3) Lines and static, no other units or electrical devices on, killed motor 4) tried putting my HDS 9 on the same transducer, lines and static still there I'm thinking bad tranducer any one ever seen this ? Is it the transducer ?

what you're describing sounds like interference from where you have the TD mounted. If its inside a jackplate or obstructed for something at the transome like the engine... If it's a skeeter, they have sponsons that get in the way, etc..which then you have to buy a Bracket to get it lower in the water.
I'd need to see pictures of the rear of the boat as well as Screen Shots of the graph, but I'd be willing to bet your issue is where you have the SS Transducer mounted is what's causing your lines.

Looks like transducer is mounted too high...

1st, do you have the setting for StructureScan FLIPPED left/right selected? because it's mounted backwards.
2nd, you're getting interference from somewhere ( I'm guessing is the rear sponson on the starboard side ). A transducer shield and saver 2" extension would clear it up becuase it would be mounted lower as stated above.

Here's mine with the 2" extension ...I was getting the lines like your pictures before I installed the extension.

Looks like jackplate echoes with the transducer on the right side of the jackplate and echoes from the inside of the left side of the jackplate. A holeshot plate or some cover over the bottom of the jackplate will eliminate those lines with the transducer in that location. A Humminbird Side Imaging screeshot of the same:

Yes, I have it flipped, thanks for the input, I am ordering an extension from Transhield now. let me ask you if that would also cause the graph read the depth as twice the depth? for example: I am in water that I know is 6 1/2' and HDS 12 says 13', twice whatever actual depth is. only on SS.

hmm, I would say to go to DATA SOURCES ( Settings, Network, data sources ) and look under the DEPTH setting and see what Source it's set to. I assume is showing a digital depth reading ( from Sonar TD ) vs. what the actual SS is showing the depth is?
Also, there's a way to offset the depth based on how low or high it is sitting.. ie. +/- a few feet to compensate for how low it's under the water surface. for instance, I TM transducer is about 20" underwater, where the Jackplate TD is about 12".. not that it matters that much, but you can change this to be more accurate if that's your thing.

+1 with what Wayne said. Have seen same issue described in many posts. Getting sonar signal echo ringing from inside the jackplate. A holeshot plate seems to be the cure. Lowering the transducer may also clear it up.
