Guys, was moving between spots, and was going full speed with the trolling motor, switched it to auto so I wouldn't have to hold the foot pedal down the whole time and the trolling motor just went dead. I am assuming the fuse/breaker that is connected on one of the batteries (36 volt system) must have burned up. It has a button on it to reset, but when pushed in it just pops back out so I am assuming it went bad. Where do you get these? If it is not that, what other problem do you think it might be? Batteries are still charging full, so don't think I have a battery issue. This trolling motor is only a few months old, so I gotta believe it is that breaker. Thought?

Since you were trolling full speed for a long period of time (not recommended for the trolling motor - use the outboard for long travels) I'm guessing the wires burned in the head. Take the top off and look at the wiring. Guessing the black and red have melted together, causing the short where the breaker won't reset.

Thanks for tip, I will look at that. I was using trolling motor because my outboard would not go into gear, so was trying to get across lake back to boat ramp. It could be the batteries are bad too, they are 3 year old batteries, but they still charge and show fully charged so not sure. I didn't want to go put new batteries in until I got the engine problem fixed, so will look at that as well once I have engine running. I did put the 60 amp 12/24/36V breaker in from Minn Kota, and that did not change anything.
