Just setting hear watching it rain made me think of a hot spot myself and my long time fishing buddy found about 20 years ago. We were on vacation and a tropical storm blew threw that week. Then next day after the storm we went to the lake and headed up to were the main lake goes back into the river. A lot of water was coming into the lake so we found a eddy right off the main channel into the lake. The water was calm there and it had some structure under us. We were using stink bait and had 2 knee high stockings full of sour maize we set out. One in front of the boat and the other on the rear of the boat. After about 10 minutes the first cat hit. Within 4 hours we had our limit of cats. The biggest one being 19#. Want lie, my buddy caught it. My biggest one was 9#.

I keep a journal on each fishing trip I've been on. The water temp., lake level, color of water, baro., air temp. and anything else I think might help on my next trip. These notes are over 25 years old now. Plus, getting older, my memory just ain't the same. Then again all the beer we drank in the 80's and 90's might help to this point. loco_2 It is funny, if I haven't been on the lake for a while, I can look at the lake water temp and go back to my notes and get pretty close to the fish on my next trip.

This spot we found years ago, even to this day stills produce cats when we get a good rain. When the lake is normal we will set out a trotline in that area and catch a few big yellow cats. But nothing like when fresh water is coming in. The spot has changed over the years, a few of the dead flooded trees are gone now and the area behind it has silt in and now willow trees are growing there, but the hot spot still stays the same. Over the years all lakes change in some way of form. Keeping a journal will help you see the changes and adapt to them better. fish

I enjoyed reading that, thanks-

What has happed to you does not define who you are-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

That's a great idea, I'm going to start a journal myself. Thank you

Give man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach man to fish, he'll sit on a boat and drink beer all day.

I have never fished lake Waco. Heard a lot of good things about it. I think every lake has that one good hot spot.
