Yep, I read the LCRA thread.
Sorry, I'm old and remember back when we used to have somewhat full lakes even during long dry spells and also the wet years when we had hurricanes and flooding.
It was accepted back then that if you built a house in a low area that was prone to flooding it was a choice you made, and you couldn't sue someone for your stupidity.
Back then waterfront property was cheap and all that you saw were shacks were folks stayed for weekend trips and they didn't much care if they got washed away.
It wasn't until you saw all the high dollar homes and property values skyrocket because of homeowners spending big bucks for waterfront property that you started seeing the landscape change.
A lot of those big homes are owned by the same people who put in the regulations and authorities we see now and have grown to love.
Disclaimer: I'm in no way pointing fingers at any one person, just stating a fact that I've had the privilage of observing over many years of growing old.
You young guys can make your own conclusions!

CHOKE CANYON: Water murky; 60-64 degrees; 23.08’ low. Black bass are good on Rat-L-Traps, crankbaits, and buzzbaits in grass. White bass are good on minnows and Li’l Fishies. Crappie are fair on minnows and blue tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are good on stinkbait and live perch. Yellow catfish are slow.

Has anyone actually been on the water in the last week or so? How many boats are using Choke?

I haven't been in a month due to a hail storm we had here; but I was seeing about 20-30 boats per trip.
I hope to go tomorrow, if the weather will stay somewhat wind free (less than 20mph).

I think it would be busier if they'd open South Shore again. Driving all the way to Calliham is a pain.

Thanks. I have been wanting to go but between my wife's health and road construction on highway 97 I just haven't been up to it.

Looks like I was way off on my prediction of Lake CC getting close to full....up about 10" so far and may get another couple inches if we are lucky. Choke is up about a foot with maybe another 3"-6" to go. This may have been our last shot this summer to get them full unless we get a tropical storm or hurricane.

Has come up almost 2ft......lots of flooded salt cedars......lots of alligators.......lots of gar......some hydrilla.

Fished four fingers with grandson today and caught probably fifteen to twenty small bass on spinnerbaits. More than half 14-15 inch keepers....

Calliham launch looks good but once you hit the river channel chocolate milk until you get to the far end of Calliham park.

Mathis is dropping like a rock. Almost 1" a day and nothing but 100 degree temps for the next 10 days. Guess I'll be able to do some pier repairs this fall (actually will be high and dry within a couple weeks at this rate).
