Went to the ramp to work on my trailer this evening. It was after five. Only took about 45 minutes to fix the rollers, so I decided to try out some Brush Gliders that I picked up at Fun-N-Sun. Had an east wind blowing about 10MPH. Don't know why , but I don't like fishing an east wind. Especially after a front.
Fished the Silver Shad Brush Glider from about 6:00 till 8:00. Picked up 16 fish at 10'- 15' depth in water ranging 12'-30' deep. Fish really liked the gliders and hit hard. Was very glad that I picked some up. Mostly small fish, but were very aggressive. Went canoeing with my son yesterday and took my forceps. Forgot to bring them this evening. The bite was so aggressive, almost all where hooked deep. I had a heck of a time getting my jigs back. I guess I am going to have to pick up several more colors now.

Same thing happened to me yesterday on Lewisville. I was fishing white/chart Thump Buddies cut down to 2" on a 1/16 oz jig. Caught about 25 fish with a dozen solid keepers. Every crappie swallowed the bait. Had to use needle nose to remove. All fish were caught at about 8' in 20' of water.

welcome and thanks for the tips!

Fished Friday afternoon and caught lots of fish on piles, with the bigger ones near the bottom. They really knocked the heck out of the baits! Lots of fun.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I have hung out here for a long time and decided that I needed to start giving back. Mainly fish Lewisville, Grapevine and the Texas coast with kayaks. I chase Crappie, Cats Flounder, Redfish and Speckled Trout. Also, I chase antique Texas Tackle.
I have gotten a ton out of this page and the Catfish page in the last few years and I hope I can give some of that back. Attached are a few pics. Crappie and Hybrid from a week and a half ago. Daughters big cat from Lewisville a few years ago, and Texas made lures from back in the 1930's &40's

Awesome pics! LOVE the antique lure display! I had a coffee table with a glass top that displayed them but the wife made me get rid of the table.

Brocephus, I think I have that same coffee table, but mine is still full of lures.
Those are all Nichols baits from down in Corpus. All are hand painted and either wood or Cellulite. Fred Nichols was an old WW I vet that supported his habits of fishing and drinking with the making of lures. About a third of these where carved and hand painted by Fred himself. His most famous bait is now known as the PICO Perch. He sold the company at the end of WWII an it was renamed the Padre Island Company or PICO. The perch lures are still made by Pradco who owns the name today. If anyone needs some help with old lure, shoot me a PM.
