Hey guys,

I am coming to Texas from Turkey next week, mainly for fishing. I will be mostly fishing for carp/ buffalo and cats. I will be fishing lake Fork, mostly from the banks.

How bad is the flood there these days? And how are these species affected by the flood? Some say it is great fishing for carp after flood but what about Texas?

The lake is not flooded as of today. We are expecting 2 to 3 inches of rain this week. That should not cause any real problems. I have not heard any reports lately about carp and buffalo from the lake.

Fork can be a difficult lake. Patience and baiting is a must. I usually fish smaller lakes in the Lake Fork area.

Curt, thanks man. I will be staying at Lake Fork Marina Hotel. I don't know where else i can go. I picked this lake because there is even a competition for buffalo fishing at this lake. Huge ones i saw... I will be carp fishing for 3-4 days. Plenty of time to bait.

On the lakes I fish, One has numbers of 5 to 20 pounders and the other has smaller numbers of fish, but bigger fish. I have yet to catch a buffalo from either one of them.

What lakes are those Curt? Wanna do fishing together one day? I pay for the bait and lunch .

If you guys are thinking Memorial weekend, I would re-consider. Both of the lakes I fish will be covered with people. There will be little to no bank space not taken up by campers.

yes Faith there is an annual Carp/ Buffalo competition held at fork, some very big fish come out of Fork but you need to invest the time, don't expect to hit the bank and catch fish the 1st day, it requires baiting the area to be fished and just work hard and hope the fish move into the area.

Thanks Stephen. I will be baiting hard. If it is not flooded i should at least be able to catch some cats. Don't you think?

not really sure on the kitty fishing tbo, I only fished Fork 1 time and that was during the competition, my partner and I blanked the whole 44 hour session, not even a kitty.
