The Davy knot is my go-to knot. After some testing I found that it held quite well. There were a few cases where I got back a fly with the hook straightened out, the Davy Knot held. That was what convinced me to stick with it.
Its so freaking simple that I forget how to tie it sometimes!

I used to use a davy knot then switched to perfection loop as it seemed to give my streamers and topwater flies more action

I tried using the Davy knot because it was so simple but it did not hold up for me. In particular with fluorocarbon tippet. I haven't tried the double Davy yet. I continue to use the improved cinch knot.

I predominantly use the Orvis knot and the mono loop. However I do use the Davy knot and the Perfection loop as well. The Davy knot tied correctly is extremely strong.

I suck at knots. My buddy Larry uses the Double Davy and NEVER breaks a fish off and rarely loses flies to unwinding. I am trying to convert, but the Improved clinch is so easy.....

I use the double Davy and haven't had it break on me yet. Very simple and quick to tie.
