Hey guys...just looking for some setups people have to use these baits. I recently purchased a couple of the 3:16 Rising Son, the smaller version 6.75".

What does everyone use for a rod, a reel, and line?

I have a Dobyns Fury 795SB. Really nice Dobyns rod for $120. Paired with a Daiwa Luna 253 reel and 20lb Big Game mono it handles just about any swimbait I throw including much heavier than the smaller Rising Sun's. Bonus is it's a great A-Rig rod too if you are so inclined. Great combo for the limited investment.

Check out the IROD Genesis II Swimbait Jr. It has been a good rod for the Rising Son with 20-25lb fluoro.

I use a Kistler Magnesium 2 (7' heavy/moderate fast) with a 6.3:1 Ardent Apex Pro. I chose the shorter rod because I will throw the weed less Rising Son shallow and helps me target cast. Kistler also has a 7'3' in same specs. Has been a good setup. Brand of reel really doesn't matter I don't think but I would keep the ratio down for slower presentation. The Rising Son has a subtle action for slow presentation.

iRod genesis II

Check out the IRG783SB! This rod is built specifically for swimbaits, especially the bait you just bought. This rod is super lightweight, well balanced, and very true to it's actions. I've noticed that the rod loads up very well on a fish and it helps keep that treble hook buried in the fish's mouth. For $150, you won't find a better suited swimbait rod for yourself!

Shimano Curado 300 E

Without a doubt, this is the ultimate swimbait reel! It'll handle any size of swimbait from 1oz all the way up to 12oz! There's a good rason why Shimano refuses to stop producing these reels, they're simply effective. I will say that this reel is definitely on the heavy size, but it makes up for that in how smooth and luxurious it is. With the perfect gear ratio and plenty of power, you'll fall in love with this reel for swimbaits! Well worth the money and the weight of the reel itself if you ask me!

Sunline Reaction FC

As far as line goes, I pay the extra few dollars for the Reaction FC Flourocarbon. This line basically pays for itself with it's performance. Setting the hook with a big swimbait can be tricky sometimes and it's important that your gear is always prepared. Technically swimbaits are "reaction baits", therefore I like to use this line because it's designed for reaction baits! The line itself has just enough "give" in it that it'll delay your hookset a little and allow the fish to really inhale your swimbait. This line is super strong, sensitive, and easy to work with. Great line!

Either works. Buy a quality flouro ( I use InvisX) and compare it to some Big Game and use the one you like. Mono is super cheap. Just take care with flouro and don't burn the knot tying it. Worse thing to see is your spool stopped and your bait still flying
