so that's how you properly use drop shot hooks!

Streetwalker: You need to reconsider that. Come to PK and latch onto some of these pigs and tell me these fish won't bend hooks. I have a box full of Bomber hooks I have changed out because they are bent. When you get two or three of these on at once, there is no drag between the lures and they bend steel hooks easily. Had them break 30 LB test mono.

Careful with those VMC hooks. I had the wire break on me. I use only Mo's drop shot clips now You are absolutely right, but for $1 I couldn't pass them up. Got these long before MOE's came out with his. I had caught about a hundred fish on the rig before it broke at the wire. It got hung up on something. Woulda been really mad if it would have been a big hybrid!

Had them break 30 LB test mono. I've caught 500 lb Sturgeon on 5/0 octopus hooks. They never managed to bend the hook. Check the quality of the hooks before you go fishing. Back when I was younger I fished a noodle rod and 3-4 lb test line for salmon and steelhead. Used VMC 9801 or Mustad 37160 hooks in a size 10. Never bent a hook out there either. Steelhead up to 25 lbs, chum salmon up to 24, coho to 17, chinook to 32 lbs.

Darn you and your fancy lures and tackle. They do catch fish.

When you have two big fish on at the same time, the torque (or whatever you want to call it) from different directions at once can be too much for one hook. I don't think it's entirely a question of quality of hooks.

I just use a loop knot on a jig and trail about 18-20" behind it to tie on a slab, works fine for me

Those bomber lures have the cheapest hooks they make on them .... The lures , I like em and use em .... First thing I do is change their hooks and rings .... I've lost quite a few big fish on the factory hooks... None on the replacement hooks ... When your side cutters won't cut one of the barbs off ... You've found the right hooks ...

SuperDuck, I will be getting some of those clips, if and when I use up all these VMC. I must have gotten 20 packages.

"You can change out hook sizes on the fly!" That's what I really like about them. I can tie up some hooks or just use plastic and change as often as I like without having to re-tie.
