Day after tomorrow I will have the much needed surgery on my right shoulder (torn rotator cuff and torn bicep). Dr say that I'll be in a sling for about four weeks and that it'll take about 4-5 months to completely heal. Since I'm right handed, this presents a problem. I've been experimenting doing some things with my left hand....and had no idea just how dumb my right side brain was. I've also changed my reels over to fish left handed, and that's just down right funny to watch. Anyhow, this puts me down the remainder of the year tournament wise. Good luck to all!!

I hope your recovery is faster than the dr thinks. Just make sure you do the rehab stuff. You wanna get the most out of the surgery. But who am I telling? My son had similar surgery last fall. Speedy recovery to you.

I got your problem solved there Guy, when you get up to it after you get out of hospital you can ride with me as we hit your favorite spots and say drop a jig right there. I'll catch the fish and hold him up for you to take a pic.

Hope you are up and at em soon.

BTW you missed a hell of a dock part last Friday. 75 keepers and probably caught over 100.

Had shoulder surgery a few yrs ago. Really nice after the healing process and rehab. Your shoulder might feel OK after the sling comes off, but follow the rehab procedure. Even though it feels OK, things need time to heal inside. Over doing it runs the risk of tearing something and negating the surgery.
Speedy recovery Guy. thumb

That really doesn't sound too fun at all Guy, but it sounds like you've got the right attitude going into the procedure. I'm hoping you have a speedy recovery and back at it come this fall!

Just had Rotator Cuff Repair exactly one year ago. That Bicep tear will be your biggest hurdle. 4-6 Months is also pretty optimistic, as well as time in the sling. I went back for a follow-up after 6 weeks, and got chewed out because I had ditched the sling. Wish I had a better result. Something's still moving around under there. You will likely be fine. I had some arthritis issues too. TAKE IT EASY and do not rush things. Everyone told me that after one year, I would be good as new. Shoulders take the longest to heal of anything in the body. DO THE PHYSICAL THEREPY.

Good Luck.

I had shoulder surgery several years ago. Rehab is worse than the surgery itself, so good luck with that. Oh, and the toilet will be a challenge with the "off hand" too. roflmao
Seriously though, you'll be glad you did it by this time next year. Good luck with the surgery and the rehab.
