If someone pulls up close, why don't you pull up next to him and ask him how the bite has been, trade a few lures, drinks, snacks, fishing stories, etc.? Let's help each other out and be friends on the water. No need to imagine that every other boat on the lake is your enemy. Let's make the outdoors more of a brotherhood and less of a battlefield.

While I don't recommend this, I think it is hillarious. So my buddy saw him headed back to the ramp later in the day. Guy was by him self. He pull up to the dock. Tied off his boat and went to get his truck. My buddy proceeded to un tie the cleat at the dock and the 15 mph wind did the rest.

May sound messed up, but if you're going to act like a douche on the water and try to get violent, you better watch the quiet guys who have the brains to get to ya.

That is messed up. Your buddy was a dikk! Two wrongs never make a right, especially when it involves possibly damaging someone's boat by setting it adrift. Your buddy deserved to have his a** kicked.

+1
your buddy is a real azz. You can fight me but do not take it on my boat.

I fish pool sometimes 4-5 days a week. Small and lots of "community holes" and lots of weekend warriors, jet flees, and beefcakes at oasis on party nights. Just gotta get used to it. Ive fished many small lakes against Jimmy...Squaw, Worth and so on, never had a problem fishing thru the same area with him. During tournaments I communicate and let guys have their respectable distance. I know there was no tournament there yesterday bc I was there too. No Tourney = No Rules, public water. Don't like anglers moving in on me either, so ask em to get lost or go to the next spot.

Just do what I do, calmly pull up the trolling motor, and leave the spot on pad. Usually keeps them with slack lines and it's hilarious when they throw their arms up like you ruined their spot.

Three cast lengths I would have told you to get lost.
Your right it's a big lake go find another point. 150 foot is just being rude.

I think 3 casting lengths is closer to 300ft, but 150 feet is still plenty of room

I was thinking the same thing...3 cast lengths is plenty far.

Was this a tournament? I'm not a tournament fisherman, and it's for reasons exactly like this. Why turn a fun sport into something with ridiculous arguments about how close you can get to another boat? Most fishermen can't tell the difference between a solid 6 pounder and a 10 based on the posts I see on here. Why would I think they're able to know what 150 feet of water looks like compared to 100 yards, or 150 yards, or whatever?

I'm not saying tournaments should be "trophy for all" deals. I'm saying let's be less hostile on the water.

I fish JP pretty regularly, most of the people I encounter out there have been courteous. I know it happens but I think it's a good reminder to have use some common sense and be respectful of each other on the water, we are all there for the same reason at the end of the day. To get away from the rat race, try and relax and catch a few fish. Why let someone ruin that for you or ruin that for someone else. There is a time to fight and there are reasons to stand your ground, but someone getting in your path at the lake while fishing isn't one of those.
