Looking at the G. Loomis E6X Crankbait Rod 7' Heavy 847C CBR to use throwing these cranks. Anyone use this rod now?

I like a rod that is 7'6"-8' for larger plugs. Make sure the rod you select is rated for a bigger bait. You can snap a rod with a heavy bait on a cast.

This....get a 7'6" medium heavy glass hybrid rod. Possibly longer.

I'm not a big deep diving crankbait kind of a guy, but when I do, I enjoy using that Dobyns 8' rod designed for those big baits. I bought one and I think it spends more time now like the rest of my gear collecting dust. But when I do use it, with 12 pound fluoro, I can chunk an 8xd miles.

I just picked up a Powell Deisel, 8ft med hvy fast action for $80 at Angler Pro Tackle. Been using it all week and like it alot. Now if I could just catch something on a deep crankbait. Its my least productive technique so ive almost been fishing it exclusively. Roberts friday, Joe Pool today. Nothing

The rod you are talking about is only rated to 1 3/8 oz. lures, so it probably won't throw the 10 XCs too well, since they weigh in at 1.92 oz. If you are going to get a G. Loomis rod that handles all 3, I would go with the CBR 958C DD that throws lures from 1/2 to 2.5 oz. The 8 XD is right on the edge of the rod you mentioned maximum capacity. I throw them on the Dobyns 805 CB RM, which handles them just fine, even though it is not rated for the 10 XD. To each his own, though. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Dobyn's 805 CBRM for all three. Launches them all with 12# Flouro.
