Went to Fayetteville yesterday for the first time in a couple of months. Went I got to the Park Prairie ramp, there were probably 25 to 30 buzzards either at the dock or on vehicles in the parking lot. Went ahead and launched and parked a long way away from where they were, maybe hoping they wouldn't notice my truck. Well I was wrong. Along with having buzzard droppings all over it, my they had also torn a lot of the weather stripping around the sun roof off.
I know that there have been signs posted around for a couple of years by the LCRA basically saying that they are not responsible for damage from buzzards, but it would seem that they could make some kind of effort to get rid of these pests since they do charge to use the parks and they are responsible for maintaining them.
Haven't been to Oak Thickett for a while. Do they have the same problem there?
Does anyone know of a way to keep the buzzards off your vehicle when parked there<

Thanks.

How would one go about getting rid of buzzards?

At bastrop they have a big cannon thing that goes off every so often to try to keep them away. You would think they could do something similar at Fayette

Wonder if a couple strips of packing tape covering the window stripping and a coiled toy rubber snake on the roof might do the trick?

So the rights of buzzards to destroy your vehicle are protected....only in America!

I hate those Buzzards. They got my truck a few years ago at the Park Prarrie ramp. Ate all the rubber off the sunroof, windshield wipers, and bed cover. Even ate a sticker off the back window. I have been a few times since at the Oak Thicket ramp and haven't had a problem. They roost in the cove by the Park Prarrie Ramp. Evidently they like the glue which is partially made from animals.

Always keep my fingers crossed when fishing there.

I know it sounds like going to the extremes but covering your truck with a tarp might be the best thing.

BY THE WAY, IF YOU EVER SEE A BUZZARD ON SOMEONE'S VEHICLE, RUN THE DANG THING OFF!

I don't they're as bad at Oak Thicket. Although they also have the "not responsible for buzzards" signage.

For what it's worth...I cover my front windshield with a thin tarp (with the ends trapped in my truck doors), and I also take a plastic grocery bag and tie it to my radio antennae. I don't think that they like the sound of that plastic rattling in the wind. Haven't had any issues since I started doing that.
