I have been fishing a lot of bass tournaments for the past 10 months. And I have been itching to get out on my old lake and fish for some hybrids. Boat wouldn't crank on first launch was thinking great 13th curse. Then I noticed the kill switch was off. Cranked her up and off we went. On the water 730am. Goal today was catch enough fish for a fish fry. Well my son and I started out shallow but the fish we caught were short hybrids and lots of small keeper sandbass. Hit up a few of my go to holes back when I was guiding on Lewisville. And we caught some toad sandies. We caught probably 20-25 hybrids 5 were over 18inches caught one 25" fatty rest were in the 20-21" range. Hybrids were on ledges. Hit only 5 spots one of which was dead mans and it was dead. The other 4 spots were stacked on the bottom with fish from 22-30ft of water.Ended the day keeping two limits of toad sandies. All hybrids were released. 16 catfish biggest 30lbs. Off the water by noon. Won't be long before the lake comes alive and you will see fish exploding out in the middle of the lake eating shad fry.
